My Story

Hey You, Thanks for reading this far :)

My name is Toya and unlike most bakers,  I did not grow up dreaming of becoming a baker or cake designer. Quite frankly, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be. I always excelled in the arts. I took dance and drama throughout high school and college. I also enjoyed making dinners for my college dorm friends.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and not being able to find employment I started to use my free time to bake. Shortly after I enrolled in graduate school to obtain my MBA. During this time I made cookies and cupcakes for my grandmother to give to her coworkers at work. After watching several YouTube videos I made my first fondant cake and instantly fell in love with the art of cake design. From that moment on I knew what I was called to do, and Kerry’s Kakes was born. The name Kerry’s Kakes derives from my father’s first name, Kerry, who passed away when I was a toddler.  

For the past several years I have been perfecting my techniques learned from various classes, YouTube and the people’s favorite, trial and error. My goal is make long lasting memories one cake design at a time.
